What is a Silver Star?
The Silver Star is a special collectible introduced in MaGMML 3 with the version 1.1 update, which also finalized Proto Man and Bass Mode and added the Silver Star cheat to the game. This cheat, originally named ???????, was later renamed "Green Stars...?" and can be purchased from Eddy’s Cheat Shop in the Plaza floor of the hotel hub.
While not confirmed, it is presumably unlocked after collecting every Energy Element and all tokens from all simulations. Once activated, Silver Stars will appear in all levels, with the exception of the Arena, hubs, tier bosses, and casino minigames. Most levels contain at least five stars, except The Shrine of Nebula, which features 25 stars, 5 per floor.
How Silver Stars Work
- They function similarly to the Green Stars from MaGMML 2. A collectible that requires thorough exploration, searching through every nook and cranny of a level to find them.
- You’ll need to use everything in your arsenal, including alternate weapons, to reach and collect them.
- Silver Stars are invisible unless the player is very close. Every around three seconds (might be different depending on the star), flickering particles, matching the background color, will hint at their location.
- Some stars require pressing a button to appear. These stars are timed, meaning you must find them before the countdown reaches zero.
- In cases where multiple buttons appear in a single room, not all of them are real. Only one will actually spawn a Silver Star (with the only exception being Crashman Simulator). Some buttons may also be affected by gravity, causing them to fall into pits or be destroyed by other objects before you can press them.
- While Green Stars...? cheat is active, all beneficial cheats are disabled, except for some funny ones. (Once all five stars are collected in a level, this restriction is removed.)
- There is no in-game reward for collecting Silver Stars. However, in a weighted-cheat run, collecting a star slightly lowers your time (exact amount unknown).
- For speedrunners, the Star Seeker category only allows the Green Stars...? cheat, optionally with Proto Man or Bass Mode. In this category, stars collected matter more than time, so aim to collect all five as quickly as possible!
